This production of Romeo & Juliet captures the conflict between two eco warrior families when their approaches for climate justice differ greatly. Romeo’s family seeks revolution, Juliet’s seeks justice. This production sought to encourage younger audiences to see Shakespeare and take a classic piece of theatre into the 21st Century.
The design aimed to be bold, authoritative and inspire change. The logo was influenced by protest flags comprising of two triangles that face away from each other just as the two arch enemy families do. The flag design is used outside the theatre to advertise the show and is also an interactive prop of the production. The type chosen was influenced from typography used on protest posters during the civil rights movement in the U.S.
